Job Description

The Pool Cleaner – Staff Housing Engineering at Al Marjan Island is responsible for the daily cleaning and upkeep of swimming pools located within the staff housing complex, which includes separate pools for male and female residents. This role ensures that pool areas are hygienic, visually clean, and safe for use. The Pool Cleaner supports the Pool Technician in maintaining pool conditions and assists during water testing and disinfection procedures.

Essential Duties & Tasks:

  • Perform daily cleaning of pool surfaces, tiles, steps, and surrounding deck areas.
  • Remove debris, leaves, and foreign objects from pool water using skimmers and vacuums.
  • Brush pool walls and floors to prevent algae buildup and staining.
  • Clean poolside furniture, shower areas, and pool storage zones as directed.
  • Assist the Pool Technician during water disinfection, chemical dosing, and testing activities.
  • Maintain cleanliness of pool filters and strainers under supervision.
  • Report any visible damage, leaks, or safety hazards to the Pool Technician or Principal Building Technician.
  • Follow safety protocols and use appropriate PPE when handling cleaning chemicals.
  • Maintain daily cleaning logs and checklists as per departmental standards.

Qualifications / Experience:

  • Basic knowledge of pool cleaning tools and procedures.
  • 2 years’ experience in pool cleaning or hospitality maintenance preferred.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Good physical stamina and attention to detail.
  • Willingness to follow instructions and support technical staff.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to maintenance requests, complaints ensuring timely resolution and minimal disruption to residents.
